Eligibility
- Membership is open to all residents of Pontypridd who support the objectives of the organisation and meet any additional criteria set forth by the committee.
- Members must be an adult (aged 18+), with necessary mental capacity to vote in the interests of the organisation.
- The committee reserves the right to ask for any proof necessary to satisfy membership eligibility.
Membership Fees
- A monthly (or annual) fee is required for membership.
- Membership types and their cost will be determined by the committee and communicated to members in advance of any changes.
Code of Conduct
- Members must adhere to the organisation’s Code of Conduct, which promotes respect, fairness, and community spirit.
- Respect: Members shall treat one another with respect and consideration, valuing a diversity of views and opinions.
- Constructive Communication: While debates and discussions are encouraged, members must communicate in a manner that’s constructive and avoids personal attacks, slurs, or derogatory comments.
- Integrity: Members shall act with integrity and honesty, refraining from any deceptive practices and always acting in the best interests of the community.
- Confidentiality: Members must respect the confidentiality of information shared within the organisation, only disclosing information when authorised or legally obligated to do so.
- Conflict of Interest: Members should avoid conflicts of interest and immediately disclose to the committee if such a conflict arises.
- Non-Discrimination: Discrimination on the basis of race, gender, religion, age, disability, nationality, or any other protected characteristic will not be tolerated.
- Compliance: Members must comply with all UK laws while participating in organisation activities.
Members are encouraged to report any violations of this code to the committee, which will be treated confidentially and investigated promptly. Any violation may result in sanctions, including termination of membership.
Termination
- Members can terminate their membership at any time by notifying the committee.
- The committee reserves the right to terminate a membership if a member violates the Terms and Conditions.
Dispute Resolution
- Any disputes arising between members or between a member and the organisation should first be addressed informally. If no resolution is found, the committee has the power to mediate and decide on a resolution.
Decisions
- Major decisions regarding the purchase or sale of land will be made by a majority vote of the members, with each member having one vote.
- The definition of a ‘majority’ may vary by decision, and will be communicated to members ahead of each vote.
- Linked members have the same voting rights as their associated members.
Voting rights
Eligibility to participate in any voting activities are contingent upon the following conditions:
- A current membership, with fee payments up to date.
- Living (or working) in Pontypridd and surrounding communities.
- For new members, at least 3 months of paid membership fees, or an annual membership.
Liabilities
- The organisation is not liable for any losses or damages incurred by members in connection with their membership.
- Members are also not personally liable for the obligations of the organisation.
Amendments
- The Terms and Conditions of Membership can be amended by a two-thirds majority vote of the committee.
- Members will be notified of any changes.
